Professionally my main employer was the Chicago Tribune. I started my career there in the photo department and progressed to a video editor. As a video editor I created emotionally engaging videos that accompanied the online stories. This was accomplished by working with the photographer’s raw footage and edited it down to approximately a 3-minute video.
My secondary employer was Columbia College Chicago. I was an adjunct faculty member teaching Computer Graphics and website design. All of my experience in teaching has been in a normal classroom environment. With all the changes in technology available today the virtual classroom creates a different skill set needed to engage students in the learning process.
The TOUT program should enable me to learn the latest skills and techniques of producing online learning materials, how to conduct online classes, develop curriculum and measure performance. I hope to be able to use these skills to obtain a corporate online trainer position.
Currently I’m a board member of the Northwest Sailing Association serving as the technical director where I maintain the club’s website. I enjoy sailing, scuba diving and social dancing with my husband. We also enjoy traveling on cruise ships to the Caribbean. This allows me to practice another hobby, photography. I enjoy both nature photography and underwater photographer.
