When I thought about how to create a visual representation of my goals and what goes on in my mind for my Professional Learning Network (PLN), I thought of gears. My educational background and the coursework involved in the TOUT program are coming together in a smooth revolving motion. Gears moving and working together resemble what happens in my creative mind. The applications we’re learning about and interacting with will prepare us for the demands of our students and in our professional pursuits.
The “Four C’s” are collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity. These are the necessary components to facilitate learning by developing skills that are used in problem solving. In our 21st century classrooms, teachers must inspire their students to collaborate with other students who bring different perspectives to the learning environment. Communication is vital and will help in creating new ideas.
The main blue gears represent the “Four Cs” for the best practices in teaching and learning. By placing the gears in the inner circle near my name all other areas revolve around them and interact with them. The different colored gears are networking, future coursework, current coursework, career, website design, contributor and networking. I’ve included the icons of most of the social media applications we’ve used during our coursework.
My goal is to complete the TOUT program in 2015. Upon receiving my certificate I plan to seek employment as an online facilitator or online course designer working from my home office. I’m dedicated to learning more about the best practices of a professional online trainer, continuing to learn and interact with the various technologies and tools and combining them with my traditional education and teaching experience.
