One major concern I've had in using a social media platform is maintaining some privacy on the Internet. A major advantage of using Google plus is the ability to organize the groups in your life into Circles. Creating circles allows you the freedom to share posts that are of interest to different groups of people. You maintain some control over your personal and professional life.
Collaborating with my teammate using Google Docs and Google Drive was an enjoyable as well as an efficient way to do our lesson plan. In Google Docs we both created documents that we edited in real time during our meeting using Google+ Hangouts. Also, the quality of the video transmission was very good.

The basis for online collaborative learning involves working together in a group to achieve a common goal. Students take the responsibility for working together to share experiences and knowledge. Their interactions help develop critical thinking skills and construct their own knowledge.
The Social Learning Theory, pioneered by Albert Bandura, states that people learn from one another by observation, imitation, and modeling. Observational learning, also known as Social Learning Theory, describes the process that occurs when the learner sees a behavior demonstrated by a role model as well as the consequence of the same behavior. It encompasses attention, memory and motivation. You remember what you pay attention to and develop traits and habits based on your environment.
Many schools have the instructionist model where the teacher transmits information to student and the students passively listen. In contrast, Lev Vygotsky, believed social interaction precedes development. He contributed to the Constructivism theory where learning is active and the learner is the constructor of knowledge when new information is linked to prior knowledge.
Students play an active role in learning and the instructor becomes the facilitator that creates the positive learning environment. Attention and motivation are central to the social learning approach to education. For example, a teacher can assign a collaborative learning assignment where each team member is assigned a concept necessary to complete the task. It is then the responsibility of each student to explain his or her concept to the other team members.
Teamwork and students taking responsibility for their own learning is very important for the student’s future as they enter the job market. They need to be prepared to use technology and interacting positively with people that may think differently then they do.
